Cannabis addiction

Cannabis is a psychotropic drug with a slightly narcotic effect. Cannabis is derived from the cannabis plant, cannabis sativa orcannabis ruderalis. Cannabis is a drug that falls into the category of soft drugs. Other names are marijuana and weed.

Effect of cannabis
The component of the psychotropic effects of marijuana creates THC. THC stands for tetrahydrocannabinol. THC acts on certain receptors in the brains, the cannabinoid receptors. This gives different effects:

  • Euphoria
  • Relaxation
  • Altered orientation in space and time
  • Intense sensory
  • Increased appetite
  • Laughing
  • Intense emotions

Addiction
We speak of an addiction when:
-someone had increased dosage of a drug needed to achieve the desired effect
-someone used that he wants more (dependency)
-anyone experience any physical or mental withdrawal symptoms when stop using the drug this means by which one tends to re-use

A weed addiction can occur if you use regularly and / or large quantities of marijuana. The addiction to weed is generally especially mentally addictive. The chance that you are physically addicted is not very big but still present.

If you suspect that your weed addicted you should search for help. Some people succeed on their own to stop, but this appears to be very difficult. There are several institutions and agencies with good drug rehab programs that might help you with addiction. Thus, there are consulting firms for alcohol and drugs (CAD), the local health and addiction clinics. There are institutions that help the first difficult period of rehabilitation to come through special detox programs. There are no medications that can help withdrawal from marijuana.
